Foods to Keep Kidney Healthy

The human body relies on numerous internal organs to survive and reproduce. Each organ has related function with the other to keep life. The brain, the liver, the lungs, the kidneys, the heart, the stomach and the intestines do their individual functions in the body.Kidneys perform their own functions on a daily basis to keep a chemical balance in the body. The human body needs to maintain a chemical balance for the avoidance of chronic illness and other abnormalities that may disturb other organs. Kidneys perform some very dynamic functions in the human body. These involve formation of urine, extracting waste from the bloodstream, balancing chemicals and fluids in the body.
The dominant functions of the kidneys are as follows

1. Blood Pressure Regulation

2. Waste Excretion

3. Maintain Water Levels

4. Acid Regulation

5. Red Blood Cell Stimulation



Diet is related to kidney health. Lack of nutrients can cause kidney diseases and kidney failure. Diet necessity differ depending on the stage of kidney disease, however, consumption of foods low in potassium, sodium, and phosphorus can altogether avoid any abnormality in the kidney function. Diet for healthy kidney includes white egg, sea bass, Cranberries, onions, red grapes, turnips, radishes, skinless chicken, macadamia nuts, arugula, blueberries, pineapples, cauliflowers, garlic, buckwheat, cabbage, and more.
1.     Blueberries- Blueberries are essential for the human body as they are source of multiple vitamins and minerals, rich in antioxidants, contain negligible amounts of phosphorus, potassium, and sodium which are ideal for kidney health. These contain powerful antioxidant that is anthocyanins, prevent diseases including kidney problems.
2.  Cauliflowers- These are comparatively low in sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, rich source of Vitamins K, C and Vitamin B folates, minerals that support in the function of the kidneys.
3.    Sea Bass- Kidney health can be a challenge to maintain if seafood is added to diet. It is comparatively low in potassium and phosphorus, also contains omega 3 which eradicate the chances of metabolic abnormalities in the body, thus, simplifying the kidney function.
4. Red Grapes- They contain high amount of antioxidants and vitamins, are relatively low in the potassium, phosphorus and sodium department. They encompass flavonoids that defend the body from harmful free radicals that can affect kidney functions.
5.   Egg White- Egg yolks are nutrient dense, high in phosphorus. Instead, egg whites are moderately low in phosphorus and an outstanding source of protein for kidney function.
6.   Buckwheat- Whole wheat contain high amount of phosphorus but not advised for people with kidney difficulties. Though, buckwheat is a safe alternative due to its minor phosphorus content.
7.  Cabbage - Cabbages are a good source of insoluble fibre, high in vital nutrients and low in minerals that are harmful for kidney health, cabbages are the ideal whole food.  It also eliminates numerous toxins from the bloodstream through the excretion process.
8.   Skinless Chicken - People with kidney difficulties essential to limit their protein consumption. But since protein is important, skinless chicken can be considered a good option.
9.    Bell Peppers- Bell peppers are rich in vitamins and antioxidants are perfect for a kidney-friendly diet as are low in sodium, potassium, and phosphorus.
10. Onions- Onions cooked in garlic and olive oil can amp up salt-free food. Onions are high in antioxidants and sodium-phosphorus-potassium free, anti-inflammatory.
11.  Arugula- Arugula is an excellent source for kidney health.
Macadamia Nuts- Amusing in good fats, macadamia nuts can make for a delicious snack in a kidney-friendly diet.
